JOB SUMMARY:
Northwest Autism Center is a state and federally approved nonprofit organization committed to the provision of services and supports to those with autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities. Our organization understands the benefit of an interdisciplinary approach in providing prescribed treatment services to children and youth with complex needs, and is committed to meeting families where they are at in caring for their child. NAC is a member of CASP (Council for Autism Service Providers), and our BHCOE (Behavioral Health Center of Excellence) certification was recently approved for renewal.
Northwest Autism Center is committed to meeting the needs of children and adults where they are. We are frequently asked to provide coaching, consultation, training, and direct treatment in hospitals, schools, and with clients in the DDCS (Developmental Disabilities Community Services) system, DCYF (Department of Children, Youth, and Families as well as other agencies and community settings.
We are looking for an experienced BCBA/LBA interested in responding to the needs of children and adults within these agencies and settings. This position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in the development and implementation of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) programming in multiple settings. Principles of ABA serve as the foundation for training and implementation of current research-based practices and strategies to meet the needs of each client in community, clinical, home and educational settings. Mature interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills are essential in order to work effectively with colleagues, schools, staff, ancillary service providers, parents and caregivers in programming that is both comprehensive and family-centered.
The diversity and scope of this work allows for some flexibility in work hours, and may be seasonal when aligned with local school district contracts. The position is classified as part-time and seasonal, with staffing levels dependent on agency contractual obligations. Additional hours or extended opportunities may be offered based on organizational growth and service expansion.
This position is well-suited for candidates interested in working hours that closely match the traditional school calendar and daily school schedule, offering flexibility for those balancing family or other obligations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide service supports including programming, consultation, training and direct services under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and contracted agency.
- Possibly supervise Licensed Assistant Behavior Analysts (LABAs) and Behavior Technicians (BTs) to ensure the training, treatment plans and strategies are delivered with validity and reliability.
- Develop treatment and/or intervention plans aligned with respective agency requirements. Ensure methods for tracking progress of client and support staff are clearly identified.
- Review records of the client as appropriate, collaborate with, agency staff, and client's family (if applicable), make direct observation and assessments of client, collaborate with client as appropriate, and determine the appropriate path of treatment for the client.
- Monitor data and make programmatic changes to treatment plans as deemed necessary
ADDITIONAL RESPONIBILTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Participate in program review opportunities with other LBAs and/or the Clinical Supervisor;
- Coordinate and collaborate with appropriate staff in respective agencies around client progress and supporting staff needs;
- May conduct assessments and evaluations, write instructional treatment plans (if requested/needed), and provide ongoing plan updates and reports based on data as required within established timeframes;
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments/Analysis, write behavior support plans, and provide ongoing plan updates and reports based on data as required within established timeframes;
- Provide direct services to individuals or small groups of clients, in home and/or community settings as identified in agency contract(s);
- Perform administrative duties required for organizational operations, which may include review and approval of staff timesheets, creation and maintenance of schedule, rendering of services, charting, and timely follow-up on treatment plans and;
- Manage and archive client files in medical billing system;
- Collaborate with staff, families, and clients, to provide the best treatment and support for clients;
- Work with Clinical Supervisor to provide training and supervision of staff and university students as needed;
- Effectively communicate with families, other service providers, staff, university students and community members;
- Reports regularly to Clinical Supervisor on duties, and provides coaching and/or training as required through agency contract;
- Collect data as required by agencies to reflect client progress and/or needs;
- Complete timely rendering of services in practice management system within established timeframes;
- Establish and implement practices to promote the care, safety and health of each client across all program environments;
- Participate in and/or supervise caregiver training via in-person or telehealth as appropriate to supported agency contracts;
- Respond to feedback and suggestions from leadership;
- Assist in research, grants, writing and presentations, as needed;
- Participate in activities/events to support the growth and development of Northwest Autism Center;
- Coordinate with families, staff and other team members to ensure program consistency;
- Provide coordination of care with community services and providers, as appropriate;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field;
- Two (2) years minimum experience in providing ABA services;
- Maintain active BCBA® certification;
- Follow and maintain current BCBA® Ethical Guidelines;
- Complete requirements approved by BACB to provide BCBA® supervision;
- Maintain active Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) certification with the Washington State Department of Health;
- Pass a background checks and other clearances as required, which may include fingerprinting, TB test, and/or infant/child CPR and First Aid certification;
- Participate and complete required annual trainings;
- Abide by the Policies & Procedures for NAC Clinical Services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift and carry clients
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements in the course of working with children who pose imminent danger to self or other.
- Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
- Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements.
- Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position will work in an office environment with ambient temperature and general office noise. Due to the nature of NW Autism Center’s business, frequent loud noises from children and families will be heard throughout the day during workshops and therapy sessions. Minor interruptions may also occur, depending on clients and/or time of day.
